Opportunities for Law Firms & SponsorsThis is where we post all the opportunities that emerge for law firms to get involved with particular projects or to sponsor key pro bono events or projects 1 - Support the National Pro Bono CentreLawWorks has moved to the National Pro Bono Centre to work with the Bar Pro Bono Unit and ILEX Pro Bono. The new centre, based in the heart of legal London, aims to provide better access to pro bono services for people in need of legal advice and representation. Sponsors will be acknowledged on the "shop front" of the National Pro Bono Centre http://www.nationalprobonocentre.org.uk/ 2 - Support the 2010 Student Pro Bono ReportThis will be the fourth research report commissioned on the subject of student pro bono. With continuing development in this area over the last couple of years we anticipate some very positive improvements to be made on the findings in the last report in 2006, which was kindly sponsored by DLA Piper. Research is currently ongoing, resulting in the public database of student pro bono activity being published on www.studentprobono.net.
The report will be written by legal education consultant, Richard Grimes, of Talkinglaw, who was also the author of the 2006 report. LawWorks would be grateful to any sponsor that wishes to assist in the design, layout and production costs of the report as well as expenses for volunteers. Please contact Martin Curtis for further information at martin.curtis@lawworks.org.uk. 3 - Gain exposure to the best law studentswww.studentprobono.net - is the new and only dedicated pro bono website for law students and law schools in the world! LawWorks and Queen Mary, University of London have joined forces to create the site, which features a public database aiming to capture records of all student pro bono activity across the UK and which is also open for law schools in other countries to add their activities. There is space on the site for you to advertise your firm or organisation to one of the most committed groups of law students in the UK. If you would like to become a sponsor of the site please contact Martin Curtis at martin.curtis@lawworks.org.uk.
