Student Volunteering Vacancies

We post here any specific vacancies that we are made aware of for students to volunteer with other organisations.

1 - The Public Law Project are looking for an individual for a Training, Events and Resources intership for 2 to 3 days a week for at least 3 months.  This internship is ideal for those interested in pursuing a legal career to gain insight into the legal aid field.  For more information, including how to apply, please click here.

2 - Citizens Advice are looking for volunteers based in Wales to be trained as assessors on their new telephone advice line.  This role will provide you with invaluable training and experience.  Please click here to download the information and contact details for the scheme.  Apply immediately!

3 - South West London Law Centres (SWLLC) are currently looking for a few volunteers to act as billing assistants.  Volunteers will need to be at the end of their second year at law school at least and will be asked to commit between one and five days a week.  To find out more, including out to apply, please click here. 4 - SWLLC are also looking for an intern to act as PA to the Operations Manager.  This voluntary post is flexible between the five South West London Law Centres and would require a commitment of between three and five days a week.  To find out more, including how to apply, please click here. 5 - Law Centres Federation - Research Assistant

The LCF is offering the chance for a volunteer research assistant to work alongside one of the charity's directors, with the potential for it to turn into longer term paid work over time.  Click here to download the information you need. [added 31/03/2010 - MC]

6 - Newham Monitoring Project (NMP)

Would you like to help provide 24-hour emergency telephone support to people from black and ethnic minority communities who are targets of racial attacks and harassment, police harassment, arrest and other civil injustice issues?

NMP will provide you with full training and support.  This is a great opportunity for law students who can access East London for the training day, and then work from home from then on.

7 - Community Links is a charity based in the East End of London, which provides advice to the public on welfare benefits, housing, debt, employment law and consumer issues.

They are offering the chance to train as a paralegal, initially assisting clients with filling in the correct legal forms, and then, when sufficiently trained, helping  prepare and advocate cases in the Social Security Tribunal.

8 - The Civil Mediation Council (CMC) are looking for a Workplace Mediation Intern to facilitate and manage the CMC's workplace business plan.  The internship would last 9-12 months and would ideally be a full time role.
