University of Hull
Winner - Best Contribution by a Law School
“I have been struck by the number of times students not only mention the clinics positively but also take the opportunity to ask me off the wall questions, to help them deliver best advice to their clients.”
The Legal Advice Centre was formed in 2010, and since then has offered a free and professional service to the community, dealing with a variety of complex legal issues.
The clinic advises on a variety of social welfare issues including housing, employment and consumer problems. It aims to address the social need exacerbated by the current economic climate. In particular, Hull has high unemployment rates and therefore those working for the clinic are working hard to provide free legal assistance to those people.
Third year students are given the opportunity to put their legal knowledge into practise in a supervised environment through an accredited module.
