Student Pro Bono & Mailing List

Welcome to the students and law schools area of the site.

Our aim is to encourage the widespread involvement of law schools and their students in pro bono activity. The ultimate aim is to establish a commitment from students that will continue throughout their professional career.

You can access a brief video introduction to student pro bono here and more videos relating to student pro bono on our dedicated channel on HumanRightsTV.

Find out what other law schools are doing using the database at www.studentprobono.net.  And make sure your law school's details are included.

FacebookYou can like our facebook page by clicking on the facebook logo...

From the menu on the left you can find out more about the sort of activities going on across the UK within law schools, and also those student pro bono activities available outside of law school.  There are also useful links and resources and information about upcoming and past events.

We aim to provide information for students and law school staff who are interested in organising and carrying out legal pro bono work.  We will then try to assist you in getting started and, along with the Clinics team at LawWorks, provide on-going help.

If your pro bono projects are already established we can help you look at increasing the capacity of existing projects, as well as adding new schemes.

If there is anything further that you need then please contact martha.delaroche@lawworks.org.uk.

Mailing List

If you don't have a Facebook account and would like to sign up for our regular student pro bono e-mails then just let us know and we will add you to the mailing list.

N.B. For convenience, throughout the site we use the term 'Law School' to cover undergraduate university law faculties, ILEX colleges and the postgraduate LPC/BPTC/CPE/GDL providers.

London South Bank University  - Drop in Clinic Manual

The LSBU Legal Advice Clinic Team has just published its 70-page Drop-In Clinic Operational Manual as a free teaching and learning resource, funded by a HEA teaching grant and available via the HEA and LawWorks websites.

It contains all of their key documents and policies, and lots of helpful advice about setting up a drop-in in a university setting.

We hope it will be a very useful and time-saving resource, that can be copied and adapted for different clinical projects.

The manual can be found here
