We help set up and maintain sustainable clinic partnerships between LawWorks members, law schools and advice agencies to help address unmet legal need in the community.
Clinics on the LawWorks Clinics Network provide free initial advice to individuals, predominantly in the area of social welfare law on either a drop-in or appointment basis.
The project currently supports a network of over 300 clinics across England and Wales.
Advice is delivered face-to-face, online (via Skype, Zoom etc.), over the telephone, and by email.
Thousands of solicitors, barristers, trainees and law students volunteer across the LawWorks Clinics Network; however, more volunteers are always needed.
There are many and varied opportunities for lawyers to volunteer, regardless of your area of legal practice or your level of experience. Current volunteering opportunities are advertised on our website.
Support and Guidance
LawWorks offers on-going support and practical guidance for clinics including:
- Assistance and troubleshooting through specific issues including advice on best practice in pro bono clinics;
- Free and discounted access to a range of benefits and software;
- Monthly email updates with regulatory briefings and news on the latest developments relevant to clinics;
- Invitations to regular support and networking opportunities;
- Access to free legal and skills training and resources to give volunteers confidence to advise at clinics.
The LawWorks Clinics team also helps to set up new clinic partnerships between law firms, in-house legal teams, law schools and advice agencies.

Clinic Roundtables/InfoExchange sessions
The LawWorks clinics roundtable (in-person) and InfoExchange sessions (online) are a fantastic opportunity to meet with fellow clinic co-ordinators and clinic volunteers in the legal advice sector; presenting the opportunity to discuss current issues facing clinics and exchange ideas for working towards good practice.
