The Justice Select Committee are undertaking an inquiry into the effects and potential effects of the HMCTS reform programme on access to justice, as well as the management of the reform process. The package of reforms, first announced in 2016, proposed moving towards a modern 'digitised' justice system with increasing use of online processes and video hearings, improved IT capabilities, and fewer physical court and tribunal centres.
